Who we are
Who is responsible for your information
Fortis Roofing Farnborough is the business that decides how your personal data is used when you enquire about roof work through this website, by phone or on WhatsApp. The business is based in Farnborough, Hampshire, and works at client addresses rather than from public premises, so there is no shop or office to visit.
You can reach us about anything in this policy using the email address and phone number at the foot of this page. Questions about your data are handled in the same way as any other enquiry.
What we collect
The information you give us
We collect what you choose to tell us when you contact us.
- Your contact details: your name, phone number and email address.
- The property: the address or postcode, and a description of the roof and the problem.
- Photographs or documents you send us, such as a picture of a leak or a section of a survey report.
- The messages themselves, whether they arrive through the form, by email, by phone or through WhatsApp.
During a survey we also photograph and measure the roof, and those images and notes form part of the job record for your address.
How we use it
Why we use your information
We use your details to answer your enquiry, to arrange and carry out a survey, to prepare and send your written price, and to carry out any work you agree to. If work goes ahead, we also keep the records that a contract for building work involves, such as the agreed price and what was done.
We may contact you about the enquiry you made, for instance to confirm a survey time or to follow up on a price we sent. Your details are used for the job you asked about, and not for unrelated mailings.
Who sees it
Where your information goes
Your enquiry reaches us through a few services, each of which handles your information on our behalf or as part of how you chose to contact us.
- The enquiry form. The form on this site is provided by our customer-management service and loads inside the page. What you type goes to that service and then to us.
- WhatsApp. If you message us there, WhatsApp handles the message under its own terms and privacy notice.
- Google and maps. Our Google Business Profile is run by Google, and the Find us on Google links open it on Google's own pages. The street map on the contact and area pages loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap only after you press its button.
If we need a scaffolder, supplier or sub-contractor to carry out part of a job at your address, we share only the details they need to do it, such as the address and the work involved. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Cookies
Cookies and website analytics
This site runs without analytics or advertising trackers. Google Search Console, which reports how the site appears in search results, sets no cookies on your device. The full detail is in our cookie policy.
How long
How long we keep your information
We keep an enquiry for as long as it is needed to answer it and to follow up on the survey and price we gave you. Records of work that was carried out are kept for longer, so that we can deal with any later question about what was done at your property. When information is no longer needed for either purpose, it is deleted.
Your rights
What you can ask us to do
UK data protection law gives you rights over your personal data. You can ask us what we hold about you and for a copy of it, ask us to correct anything that is wrong, ask us to delete information we no longer need, ask us to limit how we use it, and object to a particular use. Send the request to the email address or phone number at the foot of this page and we will respond.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator. We would welcome the chance to put things right first, and our complaints procedure explains how.
Changes
Updates to this policy
If the way we collect or use information changes, we will update this page so that it always describes what we actually do. Our terms and conditions cover the contract for roof work itself.
