The basics
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your phone, tablet or computer. Some are needed to make a page work, and some record what you do so that someone else can analyse it or show you adverts. Similar technologies, such as scripts and pixels, can do the same job, and this policy covers them too.
The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, regulation 6, set the rule for storing information on your device or reading it. As amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, they ask for your consent unless one of the listed exceptions applies.
Our approach
No analytics or tracking cookies
This website runs without analytics packages, advertising pixels, retargeting scripts or social media trackers. Nothing here follows you from page to page to build a profile of your visits. Because we set no cookies of that kind, there is no cookie banner asking you to accept or refuse them.
Google Search Console, which we use to see how the site appears in search results, sets no cookies on your device. It reports on the site from Google's side, using information about searches rather than about you.
The typefaces on the site are stored on our own pages, so loading them does not involve a request to a third-party font service.
On request
Things that load only when you click
Some features connect to outside services, and each waits for you.
- The street map. The area maps are drawn from our own data until you press the button to show the street map. That button then loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap, which receives the usual request details such as your IP address.
- Google. The Find us on Google links open our Google Business Profile in a new page, where Google's own cookie and privacy policies apply. If a Google map is shown on this site, it sits behind a button, nothing is requested from Google until you press it, and Google may then set its own cookies.
If you press neither button and follow no link, none of these services is contacted.
Forms and messaging
The enquiry form, calls and WhatsApp
The enquiry form is supplied by our customer-management service and appears inside the page. It exists to pass what you type to us. Phone numbers on the site open your phone's dialler, and the WhatsApp button opens WhatsApp on your device, where its own terms and privacy notice apply from that point.
What we do with the details you send is described in our privacy policy.
Your choices
How to control cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you see the cookies stored on your device, delete them and block them for particular sites or for all sites. The settings are usually under privacy or security in the browser's menu. Blocking cookies from a map you have chosen to load will not stop the rest of this site from working, and the site does not store anything in your browser to remember your choices.
Updates
If this changes
Terms like cookie, pixel and script describe the mechanism, not the purpose, so we describe each feature by what it does. If we add a feature that stores information on your device, we will list it here and, where the rules require it, ask for your consent before it runs. Questions about this policy go to the email address or phone number at the foot of this page.
